About
I was born in Calabria, grew up near Milan, and now live in Berlin. Moving between these places has shaped the way I think about identity and belonging. Growing up with Southern Italian roots in Northern Italy made me aware early on that belonging is not always determined by where we live, and that the idea of home can be complex and unstable.
Before painting, I studied linguistics. This background made me attentive to how meaning is constructed, but also to what language cannot fully contain. Painting allows me to approach experiences without reducing them to a single meaning.
My paintings often begin with memories of places, not as clear images, but as sensations: the feeling of water, the atmosphere of a landscape, a colour, or a physical response. Forms emerge and disappear, moving in and out of focus in the same way memories can return in fragments.
My work draws on personal experience without illustrating it directly. Through painting, I explore how belonging is shaped by distance, memory, and change, and how a sense of home can be lost, carried with us, and continually reimagined.
